Castel Sant’Elmo (with Museo del Novecento)
Via Tito Angelini, 20/A, 80129 Napoli NA, Italy
Castel Sant’Elmo is a star-shaped fortress overlooking Certosa E Museo Di San Martino and Naples from the heights of the Vomero district. Originally constructed in the 14th century and later expanded under Spanish rule, it has served as a military stronghold, prison, and strategic lookout over the city.
Today, the castle hosts exhibitions and cultural events, but its panoramic terraces are its defining feature. From here, the view stretches across the historic center, the bay, and Mount Vesuvius — offering one of the most complete perspectives of Naples. Imposing yet contemplative, Castel Sant’Elmo provides both historical depth and one of the city’s most memorable viewpoints.
The Castel Sant'Elmo is within walking distance of Ventimetriquadri for specialty coffee and Pizzeria Sandropizzettata, two of our favorite hidden gems in Vomero.
